Polyester fabric, a common synthetic fiber, holds a significant position in the textile industry due to its excellent performance. After years of practical experience, I have summarized some experiences regarding the use and processing of polyester fabric for reference.

 

First, the greatest strength of polyester fabric is its high strength, excellent abrasion resistance, and resistance to deformation. This makes it ideal for clothing that requires frequent use, such as sportswear and workwear. However, polyester has poor moisture absorption and is prone to static electricity when worn, especially in dry environments. Therefore, in production and daily use, it is recommended to improve this problem by adding antistatic agents or blending with a small amount of natural fibers (such as cotton).

 

Second, polyester fabric has unique dyeing properties, typically requiring high-temperature and high-pressure dyeing processes to achieve ideal color fastness. In practice, using conventional dyeing methods can easily result in color shift or fading. Therefore, selecting the appropriate dye and process parameters is crucial. Furthermore, while polyester fabric is highly acid and alkali resistant, prolonged exposure to strong acids or alkalis can still damage the fibers, so proper protection is required during use.

 

Regarding maintenance, polyester fabrics should be washed with a neutral detergent and should be avoided from prolonged soaking in high temperatures to prevent damage to their shape and color. Ironing should be controlled; medium-low temperatures are recommended, and a thin cloth should be placed under the fabric to prevent burns.

 

Overall, polyester fabric is widely used in various textiles due to its durability and easy care. However, its full potential can only be realized through a thorough understanding of its properties and proper handling. I hope these experiences will be helpful to those working in this field.
